Furnish
and install as shown on the plans an Evapco Model _________ induced
draft counterflow closed circuit cooler.
Each unit shall have the capacity to cool _________ GPM (L/S) of Water/Glycol
from ______ °F (ºC) to ______ °F (ºC) with a _____
°F (ºC) entering wet bulb temperature.
Additionally, the thermal performance with water as the cooling fluid shall be certified by the Cooling Technology Institute in accordance with CTI Standard 201.
Thermal performance with the optional Super Low Sound Fan shall be CTI Certified.
Casing
The casing shall be constructed of G-235 hot-dip galvanized steel for
long life and durability. The casing panels shall totally encase all
sides of the heat transfer surface to protect it from direct exposure
to environmental elements.
Basin
The basin shall be constructed of G-235 hot-dip galvanized steel for
long life and durability. Standard basin accessories shall include overflow,
drain, type 304 stainless steel strainers, and brass make-up valve with
plastic float. The entire pan area shall be enclosed and protected from
exposure to environmental elements. The basin shall be designed with
a sloped basin floor with heat exchange surfaces elevated a minimum
of 18 inches above the basin floor to facilitate basin cleaning. The
basin shall be provided with access panels which can be removed for
complete and open access to the entire basin for cleaning and component
access.
Fill
The
heat transfer fill shall be made from polyvinyl chloride sheets which
is resistant to rot, decay and biological attack. The fill sheets shall
be thermally formed and bonded into fill blocks for strength and durability.
The fill shall be elevated a minimum of 24 inches above the floor of
the basin floor to facilitate cleaning. The PVC fill shall be self-extinguishing
type with a flame spread rating of 5 per ASTM E84-81a.
Heat
Transfer Coil
Cooling coils shall be all prime surface steel, encased in a steel framework
with the entire assembly hot-dip galvanized after fabrication. The coil
assembly shall be completely enclosed and protected from sunlight exposure,
environmental elements and debris. Removable panels shall be provided
around the coil to permit easy inspection of the coil without unit entry.
The tubes shall be sloped for free drainage of the coil and designed
for low pressure drop. The coil shall be pneumatically tested at 400
psig under water. Units having the heat transfer coil exposed to direct
sunlight and debris shall not be acceptable.
Fan
Motor
Total unit fan motor horsepower shall not exceed ____ HP. Fan motor(s)
shall be ___ @ ___ HP each for application on ___ volts, ____ hertz,
___ phase. Fan motor(s) shall be totally enclosed with a 1.15 service
factor, and specifically designed for cooling tower application. Motor(s)
shall be accessible from the exterior of the unit. If the fan motors
cannot be serviced externally, the manufacturer must include basin level
platforms and elevated internal platforms for safer access to the drive
system.
Drive
Each
fan assembly shall be driven by a dedicated fan motor. Each fan shall
be driven by a solid backed V-belt with taper lock sheaves designed
for 150% of the motor nameplate horsepower. The belt shall be constructed
of neoprene with reinforcing polyester cords suitable for evaporative
cooler service. Belt adjustment and lubrication of fan shaft bearings
shall be accomplished from the unitŐs exterior. Fan
Axial
Propeller Fans
Fans shall be heavy duty axial propeller type statically balanced. The
fans shall be constructed of aluminum alloy blades, installed in a closely
fitted cowl with venturi air inlet. Fan screens shall be galvanized
steel mesh and frame, bolted to the fan cowl.
Fan
Shaft Bearings
Fan shaft bearings shall be heavy duty self-aligning ball type with
grease fittings extended to the outside of the unit. Materials shall
be stainless steel balls with chrome steel races and zinc plated housing
for corrosion resistance. Bearings shall be designed for a minimum L-10
life of 75,000 hours.
Water
Recirculation Pump
The pump(s) shall be a close-coupled, centrifugal type with mechanical
seal, installed vertically at the factory to allow free drainage on
shut down. _________ horsepower (kW) totally enclosed motor(s) shall
be furnished suitable for outdoor service on _________ volts, _________
hertz, and _________ phase.
Water
Distribution System
The water distribution system shall be completely enclosed and protected
from sunlight exposure, environmental elements and debris. The spray
system shall provide a water flow rate over the coil of not less than
12 GPM per square foot for maximum cooling efficiency. The spray header
shall be removable for cleaning, and constructed of schedule 40 polyvinyl
chloride pipe for corrosion resistance. Spray nozzles shall be threaded
into spray header; snap-in nozzles shall not be acceptable.
Eliminators
The unit shall be provided with eliminators made from of inert polyvinyl
chloride (PVC) in easily handled sections. The eliminator design shall
incorporate three changes in air direction to assure complete removal
of all entrained moisture from the discharge air stream. Maximum drift
rate shall be less than 0.001% of the circulating water rate.
Air
Inlet Louvers
Air inlet louvers shall be provided on all of the air intakes to prevent
debris from entering the unit. The louvers shall be easily removed and
constructed from non-corrosive polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The louvers
shall also have a minimum of two changes in air direction to prevent
splashout and block direct sunlight from entering the basin.
Finish
All basin and casing materials shall be constructed of G-235 heavy gauge
mill hot-dip galvanized steel. During fabrication, all panel edges shall
be coated with a 95% pure zinc-rich compound for superior protection
against corrosion.
Sound
The unit shall be designed for low sound with maximum sound pressure
levels not exceeding the following values: Overall Sound Pressure level
